The Oneworld Alliance, a global airline group with 15 members including American Airlines and Qantas Airways, is exploring an Indian partner to strengthen its presence in the fast-growing aviation market. CEO Nat Pieper shared the update at the Wings Club event in New York on Sept. 18.
Pieper noted that adding a new member is complex, as it must align with all 15 carriers. With 10 alliance members already flying to India, Oneworld may also consider initiatives like loyalty programs or joint lounges to enhance customer benefits.
As India’s air travel demand surges, this move could reshape global connectivity. Hawaiian Airlines is set to join in 2026.
New India Abroad highlights this development for Indian travelers worldwide.
